Day 5 of Full Figured Fashion Week was really day one for me, and wow it was an amazing first day! I went to The Nation Designs studio, who manufactures both Hal Rubenstein’s and Marla Wynne’s collections. Oh and of course I met the designers as well.
Marla’s collection can be described as comfortable chic. One of my favorite pieces was this structured jacket with waffle like fabric. It felt tailored, but totally wearable. Modeled by Sue of Suestyle.com you can see the details and the gorgeous texture.
Hal Rubenstein’s collection is on the edgier side with angled cuts seen in his peplum, waist length blazers. Living in Florida I gravitate towards floral and bright prints, so I ran straight to this palm tree print dress, which still has a modern flare styled with the quilted jacket.
The event was also an opportunity to meet other bloggers and I totally had several fan girl moments.

Recently, I attended Lane Bryant’s preview of Isabel Toledo’s Fall collection. Her pieces are gorgeous and the attention to detail and the silhouettes are amazing! I got to meet the always fabulous Marie from The Curvy Fashionista and Farah from Estrella Fashion Report, best of all I got to try on some of the new pieces and meet Isabel Toledo herself! Here are a few of my favorites.
When I first arrived at the event, Marie was wearing this gorgeous dress and I just had to try it it on!
My friend Oylan fell in love with the Luxe Wrap Coat. Doesn’t she look amazing in it?! Ruben Toledo even snapped a few pix of her in it!
I was really hesitant to try this on, because Toledo last collection, while beautiful, did not fit pass my hips. Lord knows I tried for about 20 minutes to fit into one of her fitted sheath dresses from last season. I even went up to a 24, and still no luck. This time around though, I was able to slide into a 20 with no problem. the material feels reach, but has some give!
Here’s the amazing talent behind these beautiful pieces, Isabel Toledo. I told her that I love the new collection, but her dress is fabulous! Her reply, ” I designed it, and it’s coming soon”! Well, I will be the first in line for it!
